Common questions

Is the duty figure a customs ruling?
No. Every figure is an estimate for planning, not a customs-compliance determination, and Marginify is not a licensed customs broker. Use it to see where your margin is heading, then confirm duty with your broker.
Where do your tariff rates come from?
The US Harmonized Tariff Schedule published by the USITC, and the Customs Tariff published by the CBSA for Canada. We check both every six hours and show you when each was last updated. When a rate changes, we work out which of your products it affects.
Does it include Section 301, Section 232 and reciprocal tariffs?
Not automatically, and we’d rather say so than guess. We apply the official general and preferential rates (including USMCA/CUSMA and other free-trade agreements). Additional tariffs depend on the product and change often, so you enter the extra rate your broker shows on your entry summary, product by product. We also monitor the US additional-duty headings (HTS chapter 99) and list every change, so you know when to check again.
Which free-trade agreements are applied?
For the US: USMCA and the agreements with Australia, Bahrain, Chile, Colombia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Korea, Morocco, Oman, Panama, Peru, Singapore, and CAFTA-DR. For Canada: CUSMA, CPTPP, CETA, the UK agreement, and others, plus the General Preferential and Least Developed Country tariffs. A preferential rate assumes your goods qualify and you claim it, and we say so on every result.
Can I see what a tariff increase would do before it happens?
Yes. The stress test on paid plans adds the duty you choose to the products you choose, for example 25 points on goods from China, and shows which products would fall under their floor, what it would cost each month, and the price that would hold your margin. Nothing is saved, so you can try as many scenarios as you like.
Do I need a Shopify store?
No. Marginify is a standalone web app: add products by hand or import a CSV. A Shopify integration is planned.
What if my HS code is only 6 digits?
We use it when the whole heading shares one rate. If different lines under it have different rates, we ask you for the full 8 to 10 digit code instead of guessing.
What happens to my data if I downgrade or cancel?
Your products and margin history stay. Tracking and alerts pause until you subscribe again, and you can export your products as a CSV at any time.
