Privacy policy
Last updated October 8, 2026
This policy explains what information Marginify (“we”, “us”) collects when you use marginify.app, how we use it, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, your email address and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store the password itself.
- Business data you enter: product codes and names, HS codes, countries of origin, costs, selling prices, monthly sales volumes, margin floors and suppliers, and the calculations and history Marginify produces from them.
- Settings: your alert and email preferences and, if you connect Slack, your Slack webhook address, which we store encrypted.
- Billing details: our payment processor handles payments. We receive your plan, your subscription status and a customer reference. Your card number never reaches us.
- Technical data: standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, and a cookie that keeps you signed in.
How we use it
We use your information to run Marginify: to calculate landed costs and margins, keep your history, and send the alerts and summaries you ask for. We also use it to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, fix problems, process payments and answer your support requests.
Your business data stays yours
Your costs, prices and margins are some of the most private numbers in your business. We treat them that way.
- We do not look through your data. The software reads it to run your calculations, alerts and reports. Nobody at Marginify opens your products or figures unless you ask us to, for example when you want help with a support question.
- We do not sell or rent your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
- Other users cannot see it. Every account is kept separate, and our tests check that one account cannot read or change another’s data.
- We do not share it with anyone outside the small set of providers that keep the service running, described below.
Who else handles it
We rely on a small number of trusted providers for hosting, payments and email delivery. They handle information only to provide that service to us, under their own security and confidentiality commitments, and they may not use it for their own purposes. If you connect Slack, your alerts also go to the Slack channel you chose.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the rights and safety of our users or the service.
Where it is stored
Your information is stored with our hosting provider and may be processed in the United States, Canada and other countries.
Cookies
We use one essential cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and business data while your account is open. When you delete your account, or ask us to delete it, we delete your data within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law, such as billing records.
Your choices and rights
You can view and edit your data in the app, export your products as a CSV file, change your alert and email settings, and delete your account from Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected or to have it deleted. Email us and we will help.
Security
All traffic to Marginify is encrypted with HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, sensitive settings such as your Slack webhook are encrypted before they are stored, and access to our production systems is limited to the people who run Marginify. Our security page has the details.
No system is completely secure. If a breach ever affects your information, we will tell you promptly.
Children
Marginify is a business tool and is not intended for anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will tell you by email or in the app.
